My Aha! Moment As A Mother

February 11, 2013
my aha moment Motherhood & Marriage

Tweet This past weekend my boys were fighting…A LOT. Every time I turned around someone was crying and I was at the point where I wanted to lock myself in my bedroom and put ear plugs in (you know that moment, right?). I caught my oldest in the act – pushing his little brother down. Of course he got into trouble and spent some time in his room. When he came out, I sat him down and we had a talk. I told him that we don’t push or hurt each other. He started crying that his brother stole a toy from him and he was trying to get it back. If he does it again, then tell me instead of pushing him down. Well, [...]

Fun Date Ideas For Moms and Sons

February 6, 2013
date ideas for moms and sons For The Boys

Tweet When my oldest was little, we spent so much time together playing, singing songs, going on adventures, and visiting friends. Then I had two boys and it became much harder to get the one-on-one time with them. Now that they are older, one of my “goals” this year is to spend more quality time with them – separately. It’s important to get to know them as individuals and keep that mother and son bond strong. Plus, they both have different preferences, so it’s nice to do something that they pick and not something that they are “forced” to do with the rest of the family. I plan on setting aside one or two days a month to take my boys each on a date [...]

Do You Get A Shower Every Morning? #PGTryIt

January 29, 2013
busy mornings My Life

Tweet   Like most households, my mornings are Crazy with a capital “C”! It feels like a never ending marathon and I’m just trying to make it to the finish line completely out of breath and on most days totally disheveled. Can you relate? Here’s how most mornings go for me: 6:30am – I wake up, grab a cup of coffee and check email 7:00am – Boys wake up and I cuddle with them on the couch before our busy day starts (my favorite part of the day) 7:15am – We eat breakfast and I make lunches 7:20am – Boys get dressed and brush their teeth 7:25am – I go through their book bags to make sure everything is there 7:30am – Quiz my oldest [...]

Why Moms Are Superheroes Too

January 23, 2013
Superhero Mom Motherhood & Marriage

Tweet There is something magical that happens when you become a mother. You sense danger, you will do anything to protect your young, you develop a tough stomach and can go without sleep for days. Some may call it survival mode but I call it just being a “mom.” Yes, us moms can be superheroes too. We may not be saving people from burning buildings or fighting crime in the streets, but we do have a tough job, honestly one of the toughest jobs there are. We have many titles and perform numerous tasks on any given day. To me, a “superhero mom” is a woman that: multitasks like no one’s business works on her marriage/relationships knows when to ask for help teaches her children [...]

8 Ways To Teach Your Son How To Be A Gentleman

January 21, 2013
learning to be a gentleman Motherhood & Marriage

Tweet   I got out of the car and headed for the back. I opened the trunk and looked at the bags of groceries I still had to carry inside in the pouring rain. I grabbed as many as I could and ran up to the house. “Mom, I will hold the door for you,” my four-year-old said. I carried in the packages then headed back outside for more. What I saw next made me stop in my tracks. My wet six-year-old was walking up to the house carrying bags of groceries. “I know there’s a lot of bags and since it’s raining I wanted to help you.” Right then I knew I was doing something right. I felt so proud at that moment – my [...]

Small Moments

December 17, 2012
remember Motherhood & Marriage

Tweet   A few weeks ago, I laid in bed with Little B (my 4-year-old) before tucking him in for the night. It’s very rare that the two of us are alone and since my older son fell asleep, I took advantage of that moment. We laid together reading a book and laughing with one another. After the book was done, my son turned to me and said, “Mom, I love you from your head to your toes.” Well, I love you from your nose to your belly button. I wiggled his nose and tickled his belly…..he burst into giggles. I love you from the stars to the grass. He ran to the window, pulled up the shade and pointed outside. I leaned over close [...]

Ants In Your Pants

December 14, 2012
For The Boys

Tweet A few days ago, we were at my older son’s first grade Christmas concert. The place was packed and we were literally sitting arm to arm. Of course, my 4 year-old couldn’t sit still. I mean he is 4, so I didn’t expect much more from him. He was sitting, standing, laying on me, jumping up and down, crying he was hungry and kept asking to go home. I finally turned to him and said, “What do you have ants in your pants?” I looked back up at my older son on stage, belting out Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I turned and in horror saw my 4 year-old pulling down his [...]

I Love Being a Boy Mom Because……

November 23, 2012
being a boy mom Featured

Tweet   There are so many things to love about being a mom to boys. Even when they say something as simple as, “You look so pretty mom,” my heart melts. The last few weeks, I have been pretty sick and not feeling good. But as you know, parenting still goes on. I was unloading the dishwasher and my oldest came into the kitchen, grabbed a towel and said, “Mom, I’ll help you since you aren’t feeling good.” Even at six, he thought enough about me to help. I stood frozen for a few seconds watching him dry the dishes and reach on his tipsy toes to put them away in the cabinet. After that we jumped on the couch, me sandwiched between my boys, [...]

A Lesson From My Son

September 17, 2012
school Motherhood & Marriage

Tweet My heart started racing as I peeked into the backseat of the car. I could see the side of my three-year-old’s head as he stared out the window. He turned to me and started talking with a quiver in his voice. I knew he was nervous as he gave me a slight smile. I held his hand as we walked into the building. He looked up at me with his bright blue eyes and I said, “You are going to have so much fun today.” I started getting anxiety as I knew in the next few seconds everything could change. As we got closer, we heard screaming and crying. “Great,” I thought. This was going to make it even worse. We walked into the [...]
