8 Essentials for a Successful Family Game Night

July 29, 2014
8 Essentials for a Successful Family Game Night Featured

Tweet We love family game night in our household! I try to set aside at least two nights a month for game night. It’s a great way to put away electronics, turn off the tv, and bond with my family. However, having a successful game night can sometimes be a challenge. We’ve had to end many nights early due to meltdowns and fighting. Over the last few years, I’ve learned a couple of tricks to help me plan ahead to ensure everyone has a good time. Pick a day and time. Growing up, Sundays were always dedicated to family and I’ve carried out the same tradition with my family. We’ll have an early dinner, get showers, and put our pajamas on to ensure we have […]

Our Funny Fish Piglet + Pet Contest #NGKInsider

July 23, 2014
Pet Video Header Home & Family

Tweet Last summer, I took my boys to a birthday party. One of the games they played was throw a ping pong ball into a cup (with a fish) and you get to take it home. Lucky us, we took home four goldfish that day. My oldest named his fish, Carl and Max. My youngest named his, Hugg-a-lot and Piglet. Little (or should I say big) Piglet got his name because when it’s feeding time, he is the first one that will eat all of the food pushing the other fish out of the way. My boys think he is the funniest thing. They also giggle because when he eats the food, he will spit it out and then eat it again….not sure if that’s […]

Exciting New Toys for Boys #playskoolplaydate

July 17, 2014
Transformers Mixable, Mashable Heroes Figure 2 Pack Boys

Tweet When I was growing up, I lived in a neighborhood full of kids. Every day we’d run outside in our bathing suits and pick a backyard to play in. Our moms would relax under the shade while the kids swam, ate, and swam some more. That’s one of the things I really miss for my boys. We live on 3+ acres, which is awesome but my boys can’t just run outside and find a friend to play with. We have to actually organize a playdate and with our crazy schedule it doesn’t always work out…..until someone does it for you like Hasbro! We were recently invited to attend a Playskool playdate in the Franklin Room on the 4th floor of the Westin Hotel in […]

Resources for Summer Learning While Traveling! #PBSKids

July 14, 2014
Resources for summer learning while traveling Create & Learn

Tweet We love traveling with our boys in the summer and we are always on-the-go. But that doesn’t mean the learning has to stop. We set aside time every day for reading and some type of learning activity. I think that learning while exploring is the best way! There are so many ways to challenge the kids’ minds during the summer days when you are away from home. Recently, we took a family trip with one of our close friends and their kids to Jamaica. It was the first time our kids (4 of them) went to an island and we had a great time. While it’s summer and I wanted them to enjoy their vacation, I also didn’t want them to go an entire […]
