Big thank you to Illumination for the special invite to see SING and creating a fun night out with the family.
In our home, family night is super important. I know it will only get harder as the boys grow but if we make family night a priority now, hopefully this will be something they always look forward. One of our favorite things to do is have movie night. But what’s better than a movie? Dinner and a movie!
Here are a few ways to take your next family dinner and movie night to the next level.
LET THE KIDS PLAN THE NIGHT
This is the perfect way to get the kids involved. Let them pick the restaurant, even if it’s one you’re not crazy about. Allow them to look at the movies online and select the one they want to see. It can get tricky if you have more than one child. Either have them work as a team to plan the night or select a name out of a hat to keep things fair.
Create movie tickets for your kids and sneak them into their lunchbox or leave one on their pillow for when they get home. Kids love to be surprised!
Make the night even more memorable by taking the kids to a place that has a lot of meaning to your family. Maybe it’s a restaurant you used to visit before kids. Or a place that you went to with your family as a child. Share the memories with your kids.
PLAY THE GUESSING GAME
Kids love a challenge so why not give them clues to figure out what movie you are going to see. It could be a toy that represents something from the movie or homemade clue cards. The possibilities are endless!
Sarah, from Finnegan and The Hughes, recently attended a family dinner and movie night with SING. She decided to get creative (she’s so crafty) and made her kids fun, holiday t-shirts for the night. She uses a silhouette portrait, which is a machine that hooks up to your laptop and can cut vinyl in the pattern you design in their software. Make sure to check out how she whips up these cute tees.
As you can tell, her son was loving his new shirt!
These are just a few ideas on how to put a fun twist on your next family dinner and movie night. Love to hear your tips!
And don’t forget to check out the hilarious movie, SING – hitting theaters on December 21, 2016.
Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon (McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal—some might even say delusional—optimist who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now faced with the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.
