My family loves to visit Hershey, PA. Our Hersheypark experience keeps getting better and better as the kids get older. We recently took a trip there (first time this year) and my youngest was so excited because he grew a few inches and is now a “Hershey’s Chocolate Bar”. This is a HUGE deal because he’s my little daredevil and can now go on a lot of the “bigger” rides.
As soon as he found this out, he sat down and mapped out all of the rides he wanted to go on….he said the scarier the better!
He went on the sooperdooperLooper, Wild Cat, Trailblazer, Lighting Racer, Laff Trakk, and Sidewinder (one of this favorites).
But the ride he was most excited about was…..The Claw. I could not watch him on this ride – my mama heart could not take it! I mean look at it…it’s nuts!
My older son doesn’t like roller coasters, so we hung out and played some basketball while my husband and younger son went on the bigger rides. It was nice to spend some one-on-one time with him.
It was an extremely hot day – in the 90’s. We didn’t bring our swim stuff, but the boys didn’t care. They stood under the log fume and got soaked! In 20 minutes they were dry again – that’s how hot it was.
The one perk about having older kids is you can travel light. We take one small backpack with some essentials we need for the day and that’s it. Here’s a few things I recommend taking the next time you visit:
- Sunscreen (make sure to apply every hour)
- Hand wipes (this comes in handy a ton)
- Pocket pack facial tissues (someone always needs a tissue)
- Tylenol (my son got a really bad headache from the heat and can you believe I forgot this!?)
- Small snacks (granola bars, crackers, etc)
- Ziplock bags (to keep electronics dry while on water rides)
- Towel (even if you don’t plan on going on the water rides, you might still need a towel – see above!)
- Mission Multi-Cool (I can’t stress enough how valuable these are! We each have one and all you do is wet them and wrap them around your neck or head. They really cool off your body and it’s helpful when you are standing in a long line directly in the sun.)
We’ll be heading back the end of June and can’t wait!
