5 Things To Do On A Girls’ Getaway to Atlantic City #ACGirlfriendGetaway

AC Girlfriend Getaway

I love a weekend away with girlfriends but between running a household, taking kids to practices and games, helping with homework, and trying to knock out my long to-do list, it can be hard to get away.

But I know how important it is to try and carve out some time with my friends. Spending a few days with them is about much more than just having fun. There’s lot of benefits and girlfriends can make you feel energized and refreshed. It also allows you to strengthen your bond and create new memories together!

Last week, I had the chance to get away for a few days with other local women who I admire and have formed close relationships with over the last few years. We stayed at Harrah’s Resort and Casino and it was so nice and relaxing. The two days were packed with fun things to do and really opened my eyes to all the activities that Atlantic City has to offer.

I loved that it wasn’t a far drive for me, so it made it that much easier to say YES!

Here are a few fun activities to enjoy in Atlantic City during your girls’ weekend  (besides gambling):

Cooking class; If you love to cook, entertain, and enjoy good food than this is the perfect activity! The Viking Cooking School at Harrah’s combines a hands-on teaching kitchen and a gourmet store full of the finest culinary tools available.

The theme of our evening was “Grilling Party” and we received instructions on how to make lots of different dishes. Our menu consisted of:

  • Grilled Chicken Drumettes
  • Grilled Tomato, Basil, and Goat Cheese Sandwiches
  • Texas-Style Bacon-Wrapped Grilled Shrimp
  • Grilled Zucchini and Prosciutto Roulades
  • Grilled Pound Cake

After we were done cooking, we all sat down and enjoyed a nice dinner together complete with delicious food, yummy drinks, and great conversation!

I was thrilled because taking a cooking class has been on my bucket list for a long time so I was a very happy girl. And the best part? I didn’t have to clean up! Score!

Spa time; I mean really, who doesn’t love a little time at the spa? It’s rare that I have time to spend a day at the spa (ok very rare) so it’s the perfect activity to incorporate into your girls’ weekend.

Relaxation by the pool; This is one of my favorite things to do. Relaxing by the pool, soaking up some sun, and spending a day chatting with girlfriends. Harrah’s pool is an indoor tropical oasis that’s 82 degrees all year round. So no matter what month you visit, you can still enjoy the pool.

We had a cabana that was really comfortable and perfect. Each cabana at The Pool at Harrah’s is equipped with a flat-screen TV, an iPod docking station and comfortable couches large enough to sleep in. If you can afford it, it’s the perfect splurge!

Drinks and dancing; Since my husband doesn’t dance, it’s nice to let loose with friends. After dinner, we stopped at the Eden Lounge where we listened to live entertainment and enjoyed a cocktail (or two).

There was also some dancing! If you want to kick it up a bit, you can check out The Pool After Dark which is really cool and popular (expect to stand in a long line, but it’s totally worth it!)

Beach; The beach and boardwalk aren’t far from Harrah’s. You can spend a relaxing day in a lounge chair with a book and then take a stroll on the boardwalk at night.

When was the last time you were away with your girlfriends?

Sounds like a great weekend away. I live near AC and have been to The Pool a few times for Bachelorette parties and girls night outs, such a cool, fun place. I’ve been wanting to check out that cooking class.
