I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for this weekend! To kick it off…meet this week’s boy mom, Amanda, from My Life As It Is and her son, Grayson!
Describe your son.
Outgoing, smart, sensitive, and imaginative. Does not have a mute button. Loves his 2 year old sister and is annoyed by her at the same time.
How do you stay calm when surrounded by ALL that energy?
Calmness is a relative term for me. If I am grocery shopping half of my list is obtained.
How do you instill gentlemanly behavior, actions, thoughts?
Wow, never really thought that one out to be honest. He sees his daddy, and other male relatives being respectful and he follows suit. When there are situations that he isn’t polite it is discussed immediately and we decide what the proper consequences are.
What do you like to do with your son?
Read with him, snuggle, and watch movies.
How do you maintain close relationships with your son as he ages?
Right now at 5 years old and having a younger sibling he’s pretty clingy to me. I know that will change down the road and we will grow and adapt.
What type of sports or activities does your son participate in?
What are some books/series your son likes to read?
Thomas the Tank Engine and Cars
How do you handle violence in play? Some of this is normal “boy” behavior, but when do you feel it crosses the line? How do you guide your son?
Take him out of the situation and explain what I see is wrong. Then a time-out. Then return to play.
I wish I had a photo. Cars, legos, and books everywhere!
I love being a boy mom because ______
it’s so much easier than raising a girl. You also can get in the dirt and play.
Give us your best boy mom tip!
Carry all types of band-aids, wipes, and Neosporin with you at all times.
My son has a love for airplanes and his Pop-pop (paternal grandfather) is a pilot. My father-in-law has lived with us off and on for 5 years and as stressful as it’s been for me, my son adores him!
Thanks Amanda for letting me feature you and your son! Make sure to follow Amanda on twitter @mandyj44.
Don’t forget to read about the other boy moms and their little men!
If you are interested in being featured, please fill out this form. Remember you don’t have to be a mom of all boys just one. NOTE: there’s a waiting list and I will contact you about a week or two prior to your scheduled date.
Thanks for reading!
