Holiday Tradition: Christmas Pajamas

Holiday Tradition Christmas Pajamas

I loooove this time of the year. Holiday music, baking, sleigh rides, hot cocoa and marshmallows, the smell of cinnamon and pine trees, and best of all seeing my boys run around in their festive holiday pj’s.

This is a tradition my mom started when I was a child. She always made sure we each had new holiday pj’s to wear to bed. I can still remember my favorite one which was a red and green plaid nightgown with pretty lace trimming the edges.

Not only was it fun but made for great photos in the morning. I’m sure my brother loves looking back at photos of when he wore matching pj’s with his two sisters, ha!

My mom has carried on that tradition. She still tries hard to find sets that everyone can wear on Christmas Eve from the men, to the women all the way down to the little ones. The kids really get a kick out of this!

We also have a big family holiday party every year – aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents – the whole gang and have been doing this for about 11+ years. The dress code…pajamas! This makes it so much easier on the parents. When the kids get tired, we settle them down with a holiday movie and don’t have to worry about wrestling them to get changed.

And who am I kidding? It takes the pressure off of what we are going to wear. We are all comfortable, super festive, and it’s always a blast to see what everyone will wear. People come dressed with Santa slippers, reindeer ears, and I’ve even seen adult onesies!

Normally I wait until the last minute which makes it really hard to find matching pajamas. So this year I decide to look for them early to make sure I could find a cute design that even my husband would feel comfortable in.

I love the customized pajamas from Chasing Fireflies and I’m thrilled to partner with them this holiday season. They have so many designs I like but I finally settled on the personalized holiday striped pj’s for adults and kids.

You can really tell the difference between quality pajamas. My boys are very picky when it comes to what they wear to bed so it’s important that they are comfortable and not itchy or hot.

And as you can tell from the photo below, they are loving them! My boys want to wear them every night but don’t worry I sneak them in the washing machine when they are at school.

Holiday Pajamas - Kids

I was even able to get Dad to pose in his new pj’s….probably the only time you’ll see this!

They are very airy, lightweight, and super soft.

OMG- so freaking cute. I am pretty sure my husband would rather poke his eye out with a fork than wear matching pajamas, so I will live through your family this holiday! LOL

Haha I MADE him put them on. He didn’t want to take a photo and I said, “Do it for the BLOG!” lol. The boys absolutely love that mom and dad match them. I know it’s a matter of time before we are “uncool”.

What a fab idea – a pajama party!
makes so much sense.
Every year since the girls were born, Chrsitmas Eve finds a bag under the tree with pj’s and a little something. Then they usually curl up to listen to the Christmas story and watch the movie The Snowman … we shall see this year ….

ack … my computer is not showing any of the typing …. sigh … hope this looks ok should it actually show eventually lolo.

Love that tradition. We do the same on Christmas Eve. When the kids go to bed the adults watch Christmas Vacation – it’s just not the same without it!

How fun to have matching family pajamas!

We do pajamas every year, too, though not always matching. But we do stay in them all day on Christmas!

I love it!! I always get the kids jammies and it’s the one gift that they get to open on Christmas eve but I had never thought about getting everyone matching ones. Hmmm… must go look now.
