A few weeks ago, I laid in bed with Little B (my 4-year-old) before tucking him in for the night.
It’s very rare that the two of us are alone and since my older son fell asleep, I took advantage of that moment.
We laid together reading a book and laughing with one another.
After the book was done, my son turned to me and said, “Mom, I love you from your head to your toes.”
Well, I love you from your nose to your belly button.
I wiggled his nose and tickled his belly…..he burst into giggles.
I love you from the stars to the grass.
He ran to the window, pulled up the shade and pointed outside.
I leaned over close to his face and whispered, “Oh really? Well, I love you as big as the sky.”
This went on for a good five minutes.
Then he turned to me and said, “Mom, I love you all the way to the moon and back.”
He snuggled down and rested his head on my chest.
I lightly kissed his cheek and took in his sweet smell.
I didn’t want to let him go, so I held him tight until we both fell asleep.
It’s moments like this that mean the most to me and the ones that I’ll never forget.
What small moments will you remember?
