LEGO DUPLO Read & Build Gets Two Thumbs Up {WIN}

by Life Without Pink on July 30, 2012

My boys love to build, so that’s why we were super excited to have the opportunity to review the LEGO DUPLO Read and Build Set.

We received the Let’s Go! Vroom! set ($12.99), perfect for two boys that love cars, planes and trucks….really anything they can crash together!

So, how does it work?

Each set comes with a storybook and colorful bricks that encourage interactive learning play and creativity.

As you read the book, the story will give you clear directions on how to build the airplane and sports car to make the characters come to life.

The lego pieces are laid out within the book, giving your child easy-to-follow directions to build the vehicles.

The story is very engaging with a simple rhyming story and colorful pages.

What I love about LEGO DUPLO Read & Build?

The age recommendation is one to four-years-old, perfect for my three-year-old.

It teaches him to listen to the story and follow the directions.

But I also found it to be a great book for my six-year-old, who is learning how to read.

He was in charge of helping us read the story (even though I had to force him a bit) and my younger son was in charge of putting together the LEGO pieces that were outlined in the story.

Both boys really enjoyed following the instructions and building the plane and car for Joe and Penny.

It also lead them to use their imagination well after the story ended. They had fun putting together the pieces and building their own vehicles.

My three-year-old even had fun trying to read the story on his own.

I especially love that we could all spend time together reading, building and using our creativity.

I’ve never even seen these (or heard of them for that matter) but this sounds like something Noah would LOVE. He’s BIG into Lego’s and has started enjoying books, so these would be a fun little gift for him.

I’ve seen these at Walmart & wondered about them and if they were going to be engaging enough for my toddler. I think I’ll give them a shot!

I’ve got an active boy who loves to build. I think this concept will encourage him to sit still a little longer as he reads and builds.

I like that they learn valuable lessons while learning to build!
