A Simple Dress

by Life Without Pink on July 23, 2012

My daily uniform consists of yoga pants, tank and flip flops.

Some days I throw on a sundress but since I work from home and I’m usually chasing two little boys around the house, yoga pants work.

Sunday I went out with my girlfriends for a girls’ day out.

I took an extra long shower, put make-up on, spent time on my hair and even slipped on a dress I purchased awhile ago but never wore.

As I walked downstairs, my husband did a double take.

Ladies, after being married for nearly 9 years and together for over 15 – that felt good.

“Wow, you never wear dresses like that,” he said.

He is right.

It was a simple dress, yet it made me feel really good.

My 6-year-old said, “Mom, you look like a cat!”

In a household full of boys, I’ll take that as a compliment.

I decided then to make more time for myself.

I’ll ditch the yoga pants and do my make-up, even if it’s only a trip to the supermarket.

A simple dress makes me feel girly and most importantly it makes me feel alive.

When is the last time you slipped on a dress?

You look amazing! Love the dress. Isn’t great to get dressed up and take care of yourself, even if it’s just for a day?

As I said on Twitter, I LOVE this dress! And you’re right, us Work at home or Stay at home moms need to spend more time on making ourselves feel like a woman again! Even if it is just wearing a dress or putting on make up. It makes us feel good and we deserve it! :) Go momma!

Looking good, Tina! Usually I’m in jeans, so I’m trying to take it up a notch and wear dresses more often these days. Old habits are hard to break.

Yes they are hard to break…trying to get out of my rut and slip on a dress instead of pants :)

You look great! I “dress” most days for that simple reason: I feel better about myself. Somedays it seems shallow when I don’t even leave the house, but truly, it is one of the few things I do for myself so I’m sticking with it!!

I have a ton of dresses and I wear them on occasion but at work they like to have the A/C on non stop and I freeze!

It’s always awesome to put something on, like a kind of dress you don’t usually wear, feel good about it and get pleasantly surprising comments. You know that when it happens, nothing and no one can ruin your day. It was definitely a “me-time” moment considering you have 2 boys that you chase around with your yoga pants on. Heh. But that was really inspiring. Women should own and wear “knock-em-dead” dresses regularly. :)

Can you hear me whistling?! Look at you all glamorous!! I love it!!

My husband loves when I mix it up and go with a dress and some jewelry instead of workout clothes and a pontytail holder around my wrist. I have been trying to do a little bit more with myself since Bloggy Boot Camp Philly. He saw all of the photos and said, “I want to go out with you dressed like that.” It made me feel good and I like that he appreciates it.

Um. I don’t remember the last time I didn’t wear a dress! I have yoga pants for working out, but it’s been so hot, I can bear the thought of wearing my one pair of jeans or any of my dressier pants. But a dress? It’s my uniform in the summer. Slip on a dress and a necklace and you are good to go!!

I slipped on a dress just last week. It was a few days before my husband returned to work after being off for parental leave for 8 months. We got my mom to watch the kids so we can go out to a nice restaurant. I decided to dress up to surprise him. There was no make up though as I don’t own any. I don’t know a single thing about buying or using the stuff.
