Our Visit to the Philadelphia Zoo

by Life Without Pink on August 8, 2010

Last Tuesday, my family was invited to Blogger Day at the Philadelphia Zoo.

I was really excited because the boys and I haven’t been there in quite some time.

When we arrived, we were given free admission to the zoo, a super cute back pack filled with lots of information for the day, tickets for the kids to ride a draft horse and other small rides and adorable little stuffed animal key chains.

Once inside we came across their latest exhibit Creatures of Habitat. There were 10 lego stations in the park where the kids could play games, learn about the different animals and collect cards for their special envelop.

The idea behind this is to educate people on the endangered species and they provide you with tips on how to make the planet a better place for everyone. Very cool.

Our zoo trip had many firsts!

Camel ride for both Big A and I;

watching “feeding time” – not my idea of a good time but the boys of course were interested;

Big A’s first pony ride {aka Woody and Bullseye};

the first appearance of the new baby giraffe that was born on July 17th;

milking a cow {shh don’t tell them its a fake cow};

watching a 2 month old baby owl try to fly for the first time;

Big A getting his face painted.  He was a little nervous and apprehensive;

but he quickly got into character and started webbing all of the animals!

Here is a news clip of the baby giraffe and her mommy. That’s my family in the last clip – you can only see their backs but hey they made it on TV!

We had a blast and a big thank you to the Philadelphia Zoo for including us in this event!

Oh wow that sounds like a lot of fun and by the looks of the pictures it was very educational. Your son looked like he was having a blast. My kids love the zoo, hopefully we can get down to the one they have nearby before winter.

Fun day! We went to the zoo this past week, too! Skipped the camel rides, but got to feed the giraffes which was way cool!
