About a week and half ago, I spent the day at the IKEA store in South Philadelphia for a sneak peak at their 2011 catalog. I know I am a bit late on posting my thoughts but sometimes life and kids get in the way.
We moved into our new home last fall and I am still trying to decorate and refinish some of the rooms – keeping our budget in mind. So I was super excited when I was given the chance to be apart of IKEA’s special event.
What I love most about IKEA is the fact that they have a wide-range of items that are multifunctional yet very affordable.
I wanted to share the personal note from the IKEA’s President, Mike Ward, that is included on the first page of the new catalog. It really gives you a better sense of IKEA’s message;
My family and I have lived abroad for many years, and we are lucky to have a small place in our home country. We gather there every summer. in our first year there, we received a very important gift. The gift was a little book. Each year, at the end of our time together, we write in this book. All kinds of things find their way into it. Exciting times, jobs we have done, funny happenings, and good times together.
As the years pass and the book grows, we have come to treasure it. We look back at the great times we have had and look forward to the times that will come. Spending time together…that is what HOME is all about.
Jennifer, the Local Marketing Manager, took us on a tour to show us space saving and organizational ideas throughout their showroom. They have created many different room settings to give you ideas on how the pieces can be set-up and functional ways to use them – perfect for someone like myself who is a very visual person.
Here are some of the highlights on our tour:
love this bookcase;

great use of lighting;

love the flow of the living room into the kitchen;
my kids making themselves feel right at home;

Jennifer giving us a brief overview on ways to keep the kitchen organized;
from the comfortable looking bed to the gorgeous furniture, this is by far my favorite bedroom!

I would love to have that picture perfect house in the magazines we all see but let’s face it with a growing family it is just not practical.
I want a home that the boys can “live” in and a place where we can make many wonderful memories.
Thank you Jennnifer and the IKEA team for opening my eyes to the many possibilities!
I was not compensated for this post. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and not influenced in any way by anyone. Please refer to the site’s PR page for more information.
